AND finalizes sale of Biblion

AND International Publishers nv, listed at Euronext Amsterdam, announces that its subsidiary Biblion has been sold for an amount of more than NLG 8 mln to the Nederlandse Bibliotheek Dienst. Biblion's 2000 turnover amounts to NLG 26 mln. Biblion develops products, services and knowledge in the field of media and information provision for public libraries, their users and the educational market. Biblion employs 125 people. In December 2000 AND announced, as a consequence of its changed strategic focus, that the company was striving to desinvest Biblion.

The Nederlandse Bibliotheek Dienst (NBD) is the non profit central service organization of and for libraries for providing books, other media, information products and facility services to support their company processes. Public libraries, publishers and booksellers jointly own the company. The NBD employs 200 people. Together with Biblion the NBD delivers a wide range of services and products for especially the library and educational markets. The relevant works councils support this take over.

As announced by AND on January 23, 2001 the company has investigated options that could result in selling the company as a whole or its activities individually. No new finance arrangements have been concluded. AND strives to provide information about potential results of the ongoing processes as soon as possible. The company awaits further results of the current processes, before organizing meetings for shareholders and/or subordinated convertible bondholders. As long as pending processes are ongoing, the company refrains from any comments.
